Who We Are

bolt-empty-beerBack in the 1980’s, in a world of neon colors and 12” mullets stepped forth a man with a mad vision to sell the beer he made to the world. “I will sell my beer to the world” declared Clint Stromberg, and he did, as San Diego County’s first craft brewer, at Bolt Brewery.
Realizing he retained only 85% of all the world’s knowledge
at the age of 21, Stromberg put Bolt Brewery on hold to travel
the world furthering his wisdom on how to brew great beer. In
2014, after returning from his travels, Stromberg and his new
partner and retired secret agent Molly Rust decided to relaunch
Bolt. They purchased a handmade brew system
Stromberg created for a client while tending a herd of
mountain goats in Budapest, Hungary.
Ever since then, Bolt has charged forward to become one of
San Diego’s most loved and fastest growing breweries.
Boasting a 20 tap, pet friendly beer garden in La Mesa and a
hipster friendly tasting room in Little Italy. Both with a
comfortable laid back style where you can really enjoy your
beer.
While Clint is the original commercial craft brewer in San
Diego County, that doesn’t tell the story of how he came by
the nickname Big Daddy. Come down to Bolt, meet the
legend and taste how craft brew started.
Bolt currently has 25 beers rotating thru their 20 taps at each location.  Something for everyone.
